SCIATICA Treatment in San Diego

Hello, I am Dr. Grant S. Foster and I have 30 plus years of sciatica treatment in San Diego. In my 30+ years experience at Foster Chiropractic Clinic, I have found that the most common cause of sciatica, by far, is a spinal or pelvic subluxation (misalignment). I see this problem everyday and have over a 90% success rate at providing sciatica pain relief of this condition.

The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in your body. It is formed from several nerves that exit the lumbar (lower back) spine. It then travels through an opening made by your pelvis. If the spine and/or pelvis misalign, the sciatic nerve is often pinched, sending pain into your buttock or leg.

Often there is lower back pain at or near the two dimples most of us have just above our buttock. This is a good sign of a misalignment of the pelvis. Specific chiropractic adjustments can relieve this nerve pressure. Drugs cannot address this cause of sciatica. If this condition is not corrected it can lead to a lifetime of recurring back pain and leg pain.

There are many different reasons these misalignments may occur. Falls, bad postural habits, muscle imbalances (i.e. playing different sports that use one side of the body more than the other), are just a few of the possible causes.

Children’s Chiropractic – Tale of Two Twins

Children’s Chiropractic – This is a story about two twins with very different behavior patterns and health histories. We share how some of the negative behaviors and health challenges of one of the twins improved with chiropractic care. At Foster Chiropractic Clinic we know the importance of taking care of the little ones. Most of the problems our adult practice members initially present with began when they were children (or even babies). The birth process is often physically traumatic to the newborn and the beginning of future problems.

Recently, while treating the mother of 6-year-old twin girls, she told me how one of her girls, Nora, has been extremely irritable, poorly behaved, and often ill since her birth. She stated she had Nora examined medically and that all was found to be okay and that psychiatric care was recommended for her behavior problems, but this was beyond colic. She stated that she had been going to a therapist weekly for 8 months and that there had been no change in Nora’s behavior.
I suggested a spinal examination knowing that being a twin would only increase the likelihood of spinal problems occurring during birth.

Upon examination, it was immediately apparent that Nora had spinal misalignments (subluxations) in her neck and upper back and that the muscles were severely tight in that area. I then examined her twin sister and found her spine to be properly aligned and her muscles to be loose (normal). I then had the mother feel both children’s neck and back muscles and she could easily feel the difference.

I provided Nora with her first adjustment on a Friday afternoon using an electronic adjusting instrument that is very gentle. She got off my table with a smile. They returned 3 days later with the mother stating, “She was a different child all weekend. This was the first time since she was born she didn’t cry or fight with her sister throughout the day.”

It took only 4-5 treatments to stabilize Nora’s condition and for the muscles to return to a normal/healthy state. The change in Nora’s behavior, etc. was quick and dramatic once the cause was addressed and corrected. Now Nora get’s a monthly spinal check-up to help maintain a healthy spine and nervous system (the control center of everything).
